What is Engage Maple Ridge?

Engage Maple Ridge is an online community engagement platform for encouraging public participation and promoting a two-way dialogue with the community. Information and feedback received through the platform will inform Council’s decisions on a wide variety of matters, including how taxpayer dollars are spent and how the community will grow in the short and long term.

Engage Maple Ridge will help ensure that staff connects with the community in a consistent and meaningful way; it's intended to complement, not replace, other means of community engagement (like open houses, focus groups, etc.).

The platform provides a range of options for feedback and discussion and will give the City a deeper understanding of the community’s priorities. The interactive tools available through Engage Maple Ridge include surveys, short polls, forums, mapping of relevant places, guestbooks and more.

Why Engage?

The short answer? For democracy!

Community engagement is a key component of ensuring that the City of Maple Ridge is a wonderful place to live, work and play. The feedback that Council and staff receive from citizens is the engine that drives the municipality forward and makes Maple Ridge a vibrant city.

Levels of Engagement - IAP2

While you're exploring certain projects on the Engage Maple Ridge platform, you might notice a reference to "IAP2" or, the International Association for Public Participation. IAP2's Spectrum of Public Participation was designed to help select the level of participation that defines the public's role in any public participation process. The Spectrum is used internationally, and it is found in many community engagement plans.

The City of Maple Ridge uses the Spectrum to guide our engagement work and will also use it as a foundational element in the development of our Guide for Community Engagement and Engagement Framework (see below).

Coming Soon

In tandem with the launch of Engage Maple Ridge, the City is currently developing a Guide for Community Engagement and an Engagement Framework. The Guide and Framework will help staff develop community engagement opportunities that are consistent, meaningful and accessible.
