Thank you to those who provided input through our engagement survey last fall.
Please see the concept plan below with the proposed park improvements including new play features, a junior bike track, and nature play area.
Next steps will include a request for proposal process to determine a playground equipment supplier as well as a contractor for the construction of the junior bike track.
Construction is anticipated to take place over the summer and early fall 2025.

Background
Fairview Park was developed in 1995 and includes two playgrounds, walking pathways through a grove of mature trees, a basketball court, and tennis court.
The playground for children ages 2 – 5 years is located near the entrance to the park on 122 Ave. and the playground for children ages 5 -12 years is located close to Fairview Elementary School.
These playgrounds are currently over 25 years of age and are showing signs of wear. This park renovation initiative aims to ensure that the new play structures continue the City’s commitment to providing safe play environments that meet the needs and preferences of local families. The City is proposing to replace both playgrounds at Fairview Park as part of the City’s Parks Lifecycle Replacement program.
As part of the community engagement process, we learned:
- what play features you would like to see in the new playground
- any other park amenities that you would like to see included in Fairview Park.
Fairview Park is located at 20468 122 Ave.
Level of Engagement - Involve
The engagement for this project is at the "involve" level of the International Association for Public Participation's (IAP2) Spectrum of Public Participation. This means that we will work with you (the public) to ensure that your concerns and aspirations are directly reflected in the project. We will also provide feedback on how public input influenced the decision.
Learn more about how we use the spectrum as a foundation for community engagement here!
