Background
Pioneer Park was developed in the mid 1980’s and has community garden plots, pathways, a playground, and a large open grass area.
The current playground was installed in 1998 and includes a four-seat swing set. The City is planning to relocate the playground closer to the road to provide greater accessibility and room for future potential park improvements.
This park renovation initiative aims to ensure that the new play structures continue the City’s commitment to providing safe play environments that meet the needs of local families.
The City is proposing to replace the playground at Pioneer Park as part of the City’s Parks Lifecycle Replacement program.
As part of the community engagement process, we learned:
- what play features the community would like to see in the new playground
- any other park amenities that the community would like to see included in Pioneer Park
Pioneer Park is located at 11824 230 St.
Level of Engagement - Involve
The engagement for this project is at the "involve" level of the International Association for Public Participation's (IAP2) Spectrum of Public Participation. This means that we will work with you (the public) to ensure that your concerns and aspirations are directly reflected in the project. We will also provide feedback on how public input influenced the decision.
